Busy day at work
My mommy has been bringing me with her to work everyday so far. She says they're repainting the outside of our condo building and the men doing the work will be making lots of noise. Auntie Barbie got to come with us too, since mommy doesn't want us to get scared. Mommy works at a vet hospital so I get to see all the interesting pets come in. I don't know why anyone complains about going to the vet; mommy and her co-workers are always offering hug & kisses to all the patients that comes in, even the cranky ones!
Since they have a raised tub at mommy's work she decided to give me a bath. Apparently my mommy thought I was dirty and needed to give me a bath. I already had a bath on Sunday with my breeder, but I haven't fully accepted my potty training so I did get a bit messy. It's not my fault, I swear! I'm good in my crate and I let my mommy know when I need to go out. I just get distracted once I'm outside; there's too many new sights and scents and sounds. I never know when something is going to spark my curiosity and need further investigation. It's mainly in the car where I can't hold it in. I get nervous when we start driving and suddenly remember that I forgot to go earlier when my mommy told me to potty. But I did good tonight on the drive home and didn't have an accident. In fact I hardly whimpered during the entire car ride, even when my mommy made a detour to pick up food and didn't get me anything. Anyways I did really good for my bath. I even let mommy use the high power hose without complaining. Afterwards she brushed me out. The brush tickled my feet so it was hard to stay still for that part. Since I was all clean my mommy's coworkers used me for a video on how to brush a puppies teeth. It's national pet dental health month in February and they're making how to videos to show their clients. Barbie got to be filmed for the video too. She did much better than me with the teeth cleaning, she's used to it and I'm just a puppy. But the doctor said since I'm a puppy, and still have baby teeth, mommy doesn't really have to brush my teeth. She just has to make it a good experience and get me used to a tooth brush in my mouth. Right now I'm in the teething process so my gums are already sore, but once my adult teeth are in mommy can start actually brushing my teeth. I quite like the whole tooth brushing thing, the toothpaste taste like chicken and I get my breakfast right after mommy does my teeth. ~Pearl

First day home
Hi my name is Pearl and this is my blog. I'm a 4 & 1/2 month old afghan hound. I have big hopes to be a great show dog one day, just like my daddy who's the #3 afghan in the country. I plan on telling you all about my journey to the top here in my blog.
Well I finally made it to my new home and after a long day I'm exhausted. My new mommy was late coming to see me and my sisters. Apparently her truck broke down and her parents had to come save the day. Thank goodness for parents or she might still be sitting at the McDonald's at the freeway exit. Anyways she made it and picked me to take home, she said that compared to my sisters she liked the way I carried myself and angles the best. My new mommy hopes I'll do well in the conformation ring and wants to try and teach me agility.
I was sad leaving my litter mates behind, but my new mommy also owns my aunt so at least I still have some family with me. Other than having an accident when we first left I did great in the car and slept almost the entire way. We ended up going to my mommy parent's house before going to my new home because she had to work tonight. So I got to meet the dogs at their house; Davy, McKenzie, and Emily and I also met Piper. Emily said Piper is a cat, but I don't know if I believe her since cats are supposed to run away from dogs. Piper crept me out a bit, he kept staring at me and tried to give me a hug.
Anyways I finally made it to my new home tonight. I got to meet my auntie Barbie. She's a show dog too! She's going to come along with me to the dog shows and teach me the ropes. She seemed a bit indifferent to me being here, but that's ok at least she didn't try to hug me like the cat. Barbie has some great toys to play with to and a really big crate with lots of padding. I'm stuck using her show crate with some towels for bedding, but my new mommy said once she can trust me not to have an accident I'll get a big crate with lots of bedding all to myself. Speaking of bedding I think it's sleepy time for me, need to get my beauty rest.
